Mexico: 4 books to add to your library

The entire Mapache team agrees on the following: if literature were a season, it would be autumn! The leaves falling from the trees, the mad desire to get out our favorite blanket, the weather getting increasingly gray and cold outside... There's no doubt about it, right now all the signs are green (or should we say "orange") to curl up in our armchair with a good old book and a cup of tea #mamiemapache .
We are therefore taking advantage of this autumn season to tell you about our favorite books on the theme of Mexico , in other words those that we advise you to get hold of as soon as possible if you really need to travel to warmer horizons... Because that is also the power of books ;)
And to ensure our selection appeals to as many #mapacheaddicts as possible, there will be something for everyone! Between cookbooks and exciting novels, you're sure to find what you're looking for and even some lovely gift ideas to slip under the tree this winter . We might as well start getting ahead of Christmas, right? 🎄
It's impossible to delve into the heart of Mexico without mentioning the immense Frida Kahlo, this Mexican painter who became an icon and whose personality seems as mythical as it is elusive. To shed light on this, writer Claire Berest takes up her pen and retraces her tumultuous and flamboyant life, led alongside Diego Rivera, with whom she had a passionate love affair. This story then takes the form of an intimate window on Frida, revealing a fascinating personality, tinged with a plural intensity.
Who is it for? Fans of painting, Mexico, and page-turner novels.

Bring Mexico into your kitchen with this veritable bible by Margarita Carrillo Arronte. This book brings together more than 600 recipes designed to bring the country's gastronomy to your plate... and to that of your guests ;) I absolutely love this invitation to discover Mexico differently and, above all, beyond the clichés. A book that reflects the country: colorful and bold.
Who is it for? Hot food addicts.

Don't miss this sublime book from the "Destinations" collection by Assouline, where bohemian style rhymes with sophistication! While we like to place it on our coffee table for an immediate decorative effect, we definitely don't forget to leaf through it to discover Tulum and its hypnotic landscapes. First stop before a beautiful trip across the Atlantic? Perhaps ;)
Who is it for? Decor and travel lovers.

"I believe it's a mistake to approach Mexico through a European lens." The author of this dictionary, René Palacios, perfectly sums up its content! This book offers a comprehensive and complete immersion into a Mexico far from clichés. Focus on the country's many riches, combining pre-Columbian civilizations, intercultural anecdotes, and ancient history. If you want to take advantage of your fall Sundays to improve your knowledge of Mexico, this is the book for you!
For whom? Those thirsty for knowledge.
